Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
5.0
Hibbert is the only romance novelist i have found so far that i can wholeheartedly and unproblematically enjoy. she is wickedly funny--my spouse and i laughed out loud many times while listening this book. i also really appreciate how she handles the "fallout" the protagonists have before reconciliation and happy end. the conflict between Dani and Zaf is rooted in their personal histories and personality types, it feels real, urgent, and both sides feel relatable and valid (as opposed to something like "i saw you with a female friend and assumed you are cheating on me, so i broke all of the dishes in your kitchen and stormed off"). and when they make up, both Dani and Zaf have the enough self-awareness to identify what caused the conflict and how they can work on respecting each other's perspectives and needs (as opposed to "yeah, you broke all of my plates, which is not really acceptable, but i love you so much that i have no choice but to forgive you for mistreating me and we'll just behave like nothing happened"). also, the relationship between the Brown sisters warms my heart.
