Lakeshire Park by Megan Walker
fast-paced
3.25
The Viscount Who Loved Me —and Edenbrooke— but make it good, although I'm not picking up another historical romance about sisters any time soon. the protagonist's sister in this one is plain (like all the other side characters) and the hero's, mean, and both of them prove to be selfish and stupid in their own ways, thus not worthy of their siblings' unwavering loyalty. still would've rounded up my rating to 4 stars if I hadn't felt kind of tired/unmoved by the end despite the story having a better conflict than most romances out there, and with half the amount of pages, but that's just how I usually feel when I'm finishing a romance book. finally, I wish the author would write a marriage of convenience slash age gap version of Lakeshire Park with David as the hero (he showed up like a widower Darcy, I loved it) and no conflict, just slice of life and eventually some smut (the original is clean btw, but the talking makes up for it).
