The first in this series that I've read and so I didn't know the characters or their relationships to each other, their pasts, etc. My fault in picking up number 54 in a series. I guess it works ok as a standalone but there's so many characters that I quickly got bored of trying to remember who was who and where they fit in.
Story was ok but slowed down a lot when the main character spent pages and pages hypothesising with her partner, then going over the same detail with her husband. Felt a little uneccessarily padded out.
Probably would be appreciated a lot more by someone who's familiar with the series, hence the high ratings.
Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
