A Kingdom so Crimson by Emmory Jarman

4.0

This is a dark fantasy world filled with secrets and intrigue. Eliah has endured so much, abandoned by her parents she has known only misery under the care of Lord Jesri, but still she is pushed further into danger and darkness with secrets kept from her by everyone in her life.
This has descriptive worldbuilding and curious magic. There are dark monsters, hidden powers, and a secretive death match tournament that Eliah is being forced to participate in.
Her new mentors only give her cryptic riddles in response to her questions about what she will face, and it only fuels her volatile rage further.
She has always struggled with her anger but now she senses something more in the darkness of her mind, an eerie shadow that calls for her.
The characters all draw you in with their mystery and secrets, and you never know who to trust. She has conflicted feelings for her saviours and her childhood friend, so it keeps you guessing with the potential romance too.
It's filled with action, chemistry, evolving magic and danger, and is the start of an intriguing epic series.
