I wish I liked this book more but I just don’t think I get it??

Like there were times when it was genuinely eerie and I was starting to get a bit scared but like also nothing happened, like there was almost no plot?? I didn’t like the jumping timelines as the character didn’t seem to age in an accordance to the plot lines and it was confusing as to when this was supposed to be.

Through reading reviews I learnt that this was a short story that originated on Reddit and has been adapted and made longer for the novel and that makes so much sense. I can imagine it would be way scarier and tense being only a few pages long.
The writing was very simple (and that’s fine!) but there wasn’t any edge to it that kept me hooked. I’m glad it was only 200 or so pages cos I probably would’ve DNF if it was longer. I did fly through it and it kept me fairly engaged though.
Can’t say I’d recommend
