Death Valley by Melissa Broder

what an exceptional book on grief mixed with magical realism and humour.

while i’m sure i would’ve loved reading a physical copy of it too, i’m glad i actually borrowed the audiobook. the author does an amazing job portraying all the emotions, both sadness and humour, in her narration. i loved the exploration of grief and grieving while someone is still alive mixed with a dessert survival story. there’s just the right amount of everything in it and i felt the main character was so so relatable in a weird way.

it’s my first broder but it absolutely won’t be my last!
