The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
4.25
This was a great mystery set in the Adirondack mountains on a preserve in 1975 when a girl went missing from summer camp. But she was not the first of the family to have gone missing on the property…
I listened to the audiobook and I enjoyed the story, although I had to pay very close attention to the chapter headers because the narrator didn’t have any changes in inflection or tone for each of the chapter POVs. Once I got used to it, I was invested in the story. I think if I picked the print book up, it would have taken a bit to get through because some sections weren’t as engrossing as others. I thought the woods would be a bigger factor in the story, but I was actually enjoying the change of pace the story gave me. I loved the POV of Judy the investigator and I loved how character driven and well written this story was and enjoyed all of the different time frames and piecing together the full story.
I am definitely glad I picked this up and I highly recommend it to fans of mystery/thriller, especially the slower paced character driven types. I loved the way it ended!
