This Is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar
- Loveable characters? Yes
- Diverse cast of characters? Yes
5.0
This is such a strange, gorgeous little book. Nothing makes sense until suddenly everything does. The different characters are hard to tell apart and keep track of, but then everything crystallizes and they become so beautifully distinct.
I already know that I’m going to be rereading it, maybe several times, to fully appreciate the prose and to fully understand what’s going on.

Graphic: Death, Gore, Violence, and War
The characters travel throughout basically every moment in human history, including alternate versions of a lot of events, so keep that in mind as there may be additional triggering content that is not directly relevant to the story.
