this felt like a rough draft that should’ve been revised 20 times over. some should’ve been rewritten. i had a lot of problems with this. i’m okay with romanticizing and aestheticizing trauma if it is done tastefully but this was not. it was childish and cringy. of course some poems were great, but they were washed down by the cascade of “one liners” that should’ve been a tweet or a pinterest quote. some drawings were also terrible. here’s why 2 stars: despite all of this, i have a soft spot for pretty books. this was a vibe, and i loved taking it to coffee shops. it definitely enhanced the experience and i’ll give her props for that. also, you can tell she improved dramatically from this.
