I don’t hate this series but it’s overhyped and suffers from major pacing issues. The social politics continue to leave a bad taste in my mouth, both in Pierce Brown’s reductive treatment of female characters and his neglect for anything outside of the heteronormative experience. I don’t expect every book to be lgbt+ inclusive but then maybe don’t create a futuristic society where sexual gratification is a core aspect.
