Mary Anne by Daphne du Maurier

tense slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? No

  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

3.0

A story based in Regency England and based on the story of the authors own great-great grandmother. It starts well, with strong characters and beautiful writing (as you would expect from Du Maurier), sadly, I really lost interest about half way though and the courtroom parts were far too dry. This book did not bring me joy like her other books, I missed the beautiful landscape descriptions.
