ALC in exchange for an honest review
Garrett & Olivia were high-school sweethearts and due to young pride and naivety their relationship fell apart when they went off to college, they never stopped having strong feelings for each other and Garrett regretted losing Olivia ever since. Fast forward a few years and Liv is a lawyer who is recently divorced from a cheating ex after infertility issues and is home to look after her mother after an injury. Garrett is home from playing in the NFL to attend his little sisters wedding and the chemistry between them can't be denied, so thanks to a bit of meddling from friends and family they find themselves reconnecting for a night which leads to Liv with Garretts bun in her oven and he is left needing/wanting to prove he isn't the same self centred guy he was when they were younger and how he will do anything to get a second chance with Liv and build a family with her and their unexpected surprise.
This is the best of this series so far, in my opinion. It is heartfelt, nostalgic, lighthearted, emotional, and hopeful, and just left me feeling all cosy inside as I was listening to it. I liked how the relationship between them developed and how much of a complete cinnamon roll simp Garrett is for Liv & the baby, there was some good pregnancy trope moments sprinkled in and once again I liked the family dynamics with the Bradford siblings and other side characters which give lovely found family vibes. Again, there is some good humour and spice throughout, and the spice fit the story, and unlike the last book in this series didn't overshadow the actual romance, which was great. The audiobook is narrated by Samantha Brentmoor, who I adore and has introduced me to Patrick Zeller, I loved his performance and will, without question, be searching out more of his work. Their perfomances added depth and emotion and just elevated my overall already great experience of this story. The book releases on January 16th. 🌶🌶🌶
"I was married before, and it didn't work." My eyes hold hers. "You were married to the wrong guy. You were never his to kiss. Never his to have a family with. You're mine, and nothing is going to change that."
