Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King, Owen King

3.5

The start of this book grabbed my attention instantly, which was great...except that I then struggled to keep going through the middle. This book had absolutely no right to be so long, and a lot of the middle section felt unnecessary. That being said, for the last third (or so) I did not want to put the book down. Everything happened all at once- death, destruction, emotion- and it did, in my opinion, more than make up for the slow middle.

I also felt little attachment to any of the characters, as there were just so many of them. I did however really like Evie, especially how ambiguous she remained, even at the end.

I would say that overall I did enjoy this book, and would probably have given it 4 stars if not for it being so unnecessarily long.
