Black Water Sister by Zen Cho
4.0
This is a fun, adventurous novel, strongly recommended to anyone interested by its premise. Through the eyes of a relatably irritable main character, Cho turns a deft hand to themes of family, obligation, guilt, and relationships with culture, gods, treating all in a considered and often beautifully realised way. The narrative voice was delightful for the duration of the book, though it was slightly clunky or repetitive in places.
An excellent book which delivers on its promises - If it sounds like your thing, you won't be disappointed!
