Book three dives in right where book two left off, with Nix still untangling the mystery of what happened to his cousin Branwen after her run-in with his Demons. I’ll admit, after how the last book ended, I was a little worried. I thought Nix might forgive Yejun way too soon, but thankfully, I was wrong. It was refreshing to see Nix really step into his own, becoming confident in both who he is and what he wants.

The story is packed with twists and turns, which kept me completely hooked. That said, I can’t help but think Yejun and the others are going to kick themselves over that “missing paperwork” situation when they went to file for Nix to officially become Lake’s mate. Seriously, how do you let something like that slip?

For some reason, I thought this was the finale of the series (spoiler: it’s not). Normally, I wait until a series is finished before diving in, but I don’t even mind. Chani Lynn Feener builds such immersive worlds that I’m always eager for more. Now I’ll just have to be patient while waiting for the next installment!
