Burmese Days by George Orwell

3.0

Interesting. I find it hard to figure out if George Orwell had a good opinion of his time in Burma or not. He has managed to write a novel where I managed to thoroughly dislike all the characters! Yet, I quite enjoyed it, as a portrait of the human misery wrought on SE Asia by British Imperialism. I can now go to Burma next week with a bit of an idea of just how awful it must have been, both for the English living in "exile", and the Burmese people.
