The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson

3.0

I have mixed feelings about this book. I like the story, I really do. I’m fascinated by the history the story depicts, especially as I hadn’t been aware of it prior. It is also a fitting story to read given our current socio-political climate; however, I approached this with expectations that were too high, and have been left feeling let down by the writing. It is inconsistent. There are passages that feel rushed, and moments where it felt like the story suddenly moved forward in time with no indication given or detail provided on what happened in the interim.
