A peek at HB's origins, a nuanced Frankenstonian homonculus, and a cameo from the fey were the best plots in this anthology volume. None of the stories were weak but this series is at its best with the for team tackling a case. Case in point: the most engaging story was Abe and HB dealing with the aftermath of Liz's attempt to rid herself of her powers in the last volume via transferring life-force to said homonculus (who also guilts and grapples with that, in Mignolian fashion). Love the commitment to follow-through. The new team member is fun too but seems to need more training to be more than a liability in combat.
