There are so many levels to this, it’s hard to even think about them all at once. It’s a classic masterpiece and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to write about emotions and relationships without spelling it all out on the page. My one qualm was that the montage of Dorian’s years going by dragged a little, but that’s just a personal pacing preference.
