Thank you to Montlake and Netgalley for the ARC!
I enjoyed the fat and queer rep and the fact that it was a character-driven story. I loved Ant and his journey to become less co-dependent, but I wish his confession were not what kickstarted it. I struggled with Maya because she was sometimes ungrateful and selfish. Maya meeting and allowing Emme to change her made sense because she experienced decision fatigue. She fought through it, which was nice to witness, but the resolution was unsatisfactory. Maya and Ant were amazing as best friends, but I didn’t feel romantic chemistry between them, so the romance felt forced. I had issues with the formatting of texts and chats. In the same conversation, some were in bubbles, and some were not. This impacted my reading experience as there are many. Overall, it was a heartwarming story about starting over, friendship and life during the pandemic that I would’ve enjoyed more without the romance.
