Charlie, Love and Clichés by Ella Maise

5.0

Ella Maise simply did it again.

Finishing this book marks the point where I finish reading all of her currently existing backlist — as of now that is until she puts out a new book — and as always, as I have repeatedly said in my previous reviews of her books, she simply never disappoints. She is just THAT good and she will forever be amongst one of my favourite romance authors to read from. A go-to author to read from when it comes to romance at this point. I trust her with all my gut that she will SERVE and DELIVER with her plot and characters.

Unlike the other books, Charlie, Love and Clichés is more of a slowburn second chance romance rather than a normal or a fast paced one as some of you — and myself occasionally — would usually love. It does however jump straight into the setting of the story right from the very beginning which I love so much as I feel it really does ease the process of progressing through the story in a much quicker pace. Sure, I did take my sweet time reading it as I find myself procrastinating immensely in between reading but I was absolutely hooked from the very first chapter and I have my friends to thank for witnessing me blushing, giggling, kicking my feet, reading this very book. Romances like these are setting up my standards very high and my boyfriend simply have to compete with my new fictional boyfriends every now and then.

So many emotions were felt reading this one. My heart bloomed, ached and broken in pieces simultaneously as I learn of Charlie's backstory and the way that she is continuously treated by her family was heartbreaking to say the least. You know that saying "every child deserves a parent but not every parent deserves a child"? That is exactly how I'd describe her "relationship" with her parents. None of them truly deserved Charlie and my heart aches reading how hard she tries to be the best and to make her father proud despite the way her family dragging her through the mud every time. And I am forever grateful for her knight in shining armour, William. Oh William you sweet, sweet man. Tooth-rotting sweet. My boyfriend has some competition and you don't even exist! Gosh, you're so charming and I cannot for the life of me find the appropriate sentence to describe how perfect of a man you are. In a world of boys, you are THE gentleman and we did got lovestruck — Charlie and me both. Honourable mention: Pepperoni the dog, Gayle, Valerie and Charlie's work friends and neighbours. To have someone to support you despite everything so wholeheartedly is so vital in keeping it all together and to have them is to be as lucky as one can gets. So hold on tight to those who are there for you through the heat of the fire and the coldness of the sea.

Charlie, Love and Clichés explores the power of love at first (and second) sight and a love that goes beyond time. One's journey with love will never be the same as the other no matter if you already knew them before or have yet to. It varies so significantly and can never be parallel to one another. A series of chaos are more often than not bound to be embarked before you find the one. Some may think they found the love of their life when really love is ahead of them waiting to be found at the right moment in the right time. Time is never relative when it comes to love. It simply fades into nothing when one's deep in love and suddenly nothing matters. Just love. And that is what this book is all about. People deserves a second chance in everything and love is just that. Sometimes love is an endless chance.

I am forever thankful to Definitely Books by Pansing for sending me a copy for me to review.

Highly recommend this to everyone who wants a little cheese to devour.
