Bitter House by Kiersten Modglin

4.0

Vera Bitter, was very bitter (haha)….or so everyone thought.

Bridget’s parents died when she was young, leaving her sole provider to be Vera (her grandma). Vera had always given Bridget the cold shoulder and never knew her GMA to have a kind bone in her body. As soon as Bridget turned 18, Vera kicked her out without another word from her. Until one day, Bridget finds out that Vera Bitter has passed away, leaving her estate to Bridget.

When Bridget arrives to her grandma’s house, she finds she’s not the only person that is part of the inheritance, but Cole, who she grew up with at Bitter House is also part of it. They get to share the huge mansion together and whatever else the will entails.

However, as soon as Bridget arrives to Bitter House, mysterious letters are left on their door step. Each one containing a dark secret of Vera’s life and each one as shocking as the last.

As the pieces of the Vera puzzle start to fall together, Bridget is left wondering who her grandma was and that she didn’t even know her at all.

Turns out, her Grandma was doing the lords work (to keep it spoiler free) and that is why she has to push Bridget away… to keep her SAFE.
