Fourth Wing - Rebecca Yarros

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️🌶️ (2.5) / Hardcover / TW: a bit violent (😏), broken bones and the like

My adrenaline is still pumping as I write this I literally feel like I’ve been hit by a bus.

Okay. First off - I was skeptical going in to this book cause I’ve heard wildly different opinions. I was scared that I’d hate it. I was wrong. Misplaced fear. I loved this book.

Dragons? Check. Trials and challenges? Check. Badass, confident, smart FMC? Check. A bunch of horny young adults? Check. Shadow wielding morally grey xaddy? Oh. CHECK.

Here’s something about me - a map in a book is wasted on me. Do I appreciate them? Absolutely. Do I look at them as I read? Absolutely not, literally never. Background is often something I skim over but it is SO well done in this book that I didn’t mind in the least. The history and relationships between leaders and governments and secrets and conspiracies was all so well done. I usually get bored with world building if it’s too involved but I enjoyed every second of this journey. The world that was created is so rich and so detailed, I can’t wait to see what else is in store.

I stood no chance with this book. Halfway through I knew it would be a 5 star read, I couldn’t put it down. All I wanted to do was read it and that’s how I gauge my 5 star reads.

I actually cried. Like…fully cried. I sent a pic to @recrealison - she has the proof. I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed and THAT is a testament to brilliant character development and writing.

(also can I just say it is a breath of fresh air to have an FMC who is such an unabashed horndog? like girl yes get yours I love this for you)

I’m slated to read Iron Flame this month too, but I need a breather to calm down before them.
