1.5 maybe? I really loved the chapters following Ghost and the weird religious cult rituals. I didn’t feel moved by or really understand Malik’s aspect of the story. Maybe I’m just missing something, but judging by the other reviews here I am not alone. The assault scenes just didn’t feel necessary or like they were meaningful to the plot, just felt like torture porn. But not even in a super descriptive, exploitative way? Just meaningless?

I enjoyed Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke and will give more of LaRocca’s writing a chance. This one just wasn’t for me.
