Books like this are why I love reading. I have never and will never known what is is like to be torn between two cultures as a child of immigrants. But I know the unique pain and panic of having to face the reality that you might lose your mother. And by sharing that experience it makes it that much easier to put myself in the shoes of another and see life from a new perspective. One of my top reads of the year.
