Held my breath
I am a self-proclaimed #slaughtersquad member, and slowly making my way through the Will Trent series. Book 3 of the series is Undone, and it left me holding my breathe from beginning to end.
The story starts a naked woman who runs into the middle of a highway and is struck by a car. The book had me hooked from the start and while it was clear that something really bad happened to her, the police soon realize that there are several women who are missing, and they need to understand what is happening. And, of course, they put Will Trent on the case.
This book is the first one with a link between the Grant County series and Will Trent series, and Will meets Dr. Sara Linton for the first time. Of course, Faith is here to help Will, with Saraalong for the ride. The partnership Will and Faith share is mutually beneficial and I love the juxtaposition between the two characters.
As always Slaughter depicts a violent world where very bad things happen. And as graphic and disturbing as they are, as a reader I’m hooked and read page after page to find out what happened. Through the gruesome details, I enjoyed the cross-over of worlds between the two series and enjoy the complicated personal lives of all the characters, including Will, Sara and Faith and Angie.
Slaughter has done a great job in developing all the characters, regardless if you like them or not. And knowing a bit of back-story from Sara because I read the Grant County books first, didn’t change anything at all. It actually helped me to understand her better.
Of course, Will is the star of the show, and his character continues to learn and grow and build and solve a few crimes along the way.
It became a book I couldn’t put down and left me wanting more of this series.
