On Sundays, She Picked Flowers by Yah Yah Scholfield

I really have to say the environment was set so well I just kept needing to sit down and process it each time I finished reading sections of the story. I remember when I started reading I had recently watched a video essay on youtube by Jacob Geller called something like “the anatomy of a haunted house” and this book’s environment kept reminding me of what he was saying in that essay. I love how Jude treats both the house and the forest as their own entities, and the fact that they are.

I cannot wait to see where this author goes with their next books and how they grow as a writer as the years go on! I really want to read their short stories online, as well, now and I’m definitely going to make sure I will.
