The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu
5.0
I can't stop thinking about this book; it was so much more impactful for me than I ever could have imagined.
You can tell from the first page that this story was so close to the author's heart, and therefore so beautifully refined. I purposefully read this book very slowly; I didn't want to miss any of the breathtaking imagery or subtle nuances of the characters. I feel myself now aching for this world that I was so immersed in.
This is the perfect tribute to a strong, talented woman forgotten by the world. However heartbreaking, her story has now been told thoughtfully with the practised hand of a brilliant female author.
I will be re-reading and recommending my new favourite book for years to come.
