The Turncoat's Widow by Mally Becker
5.0
A great historical mystery with a bit of the best of everything in the genre thrown in. There’s adventure, a bit of romance, a number of mysteries to be solved including figuring out who the big baddie is, and some nice historical details. General Washington and his propensity for using spies, Alexander Hamilton, the HMS Jersey, the plot to murder Washington with pea soup, and more real historical figures and events make appearances which gives the whole story a real feeling of plausibility. The background of the Revolution at a time when people felt it might fail and not all in America knew where they stood in terms of independence gave context and purpose to the characters.
The heroine, Rebecca Parcell, is a well-written, the-dimensional, and easy to root for.
Overall a well-written fun read that I enjoyed quite a bit. On to the next book!!
