This is the third book in the Falling for Fables collection, a set of interconnected standalones. Tropes and themes include cozy vibes, forced proximity, rivals to lovers, dragons and a competition. Please check content warnings related to adult topics.
The Lovely: I loved the cozy vibes coupled with low stakes. I liked how the competition element wasn’t the entirety of the story and how the FMC has to work through some tough decisions.
The Mundane: I didn’t feel as invested, especially emotionally, in the MCs as I did in the prior two books. The MMC comes across to me as a bit too flirty and insincere, which was kind of a turn off to me. The banter was mostly innuendo, which contributed to the meh.
Rating: 4/5 Stars 2/5 Flames
Recommendation: While the story was cute and cozy, I didn’t feel as engaged as I would like. My favorite in the series was book one - I think because the MC’s chemistry drew me in and made me emotionally invested. I didn’t get that same feeling here. I’ll still read the next book (due out early 2025) to chase the high of the first book.
