The hero was basically Batman, the heroine about to become her own super hero. And my favorite thing about historicals is when they openly challenge the social structure and inherent injustices, and finding parallels in our time. A lot are more subtle, but this book brought it hardcore along with all the swoony moments. Cannot wait for the next in the series.
