The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman
5.0
What an exciting new series! I read this in one sitting - that's how much fun it was.
The world here is fantastic and one that readers will love - there's a library that exists outside of normal time and space and Librarians are employed to collect unique books from various alternate universes.
And from there, it's a combination of Doctor Who and Warehouse 13, to some extent. There's a lot of running and taking on identities while learning about and adjusting to new worlds. There's also a need to collect an item, know some of its significance, and return it to the library for research and storing. It's a fun combination and a delight to read about.
And the characters are quite well done. Irene, our MC, is witty and hilarious and also very human. She frequently feels inadequate and out of her element and yet she continues on and that makes her a very relateable and compelling character to read.
Highly recommended to all fantasy readers.
