2025 review - I re-read this before starting the 2nd in the series that just came out. I'm changing this to a 5 star book for me. I loved it just as much as the second time reading.
I really noticed the wonderful friendship between Riley and Hoshiko this time around. They really rooted for each other and supported each other through everything. The friendship that grows between Riley and Nathan's friends was also really cute. Other relationships can fall wayside in some romance books. This one did the opposite. Riley created a lot of bonds and strengthened others.
I very much appreciated that Riley kind of sucks at the beginning of the book. She definitely goes through pretty good character growth, and her relationship with her dad is still really emotional for me.
2024 review - This book was so cute. It was just a feel-good read. She likes musicals. He likes D&D. It was a match made in heaven. The author gets did a good job on making the exs of these 2 people, terrible people. They're both like awfully manipulative, so it was easy to hate them and easy to root the couple. The side story with the main character's best friends was cute. The emotional rollercoaster you had with her getting closer to her dad was really good as well. This was definitely an enjoyable read. And something I will reread when I need something easy and light-hearted.
