the first word that comes to mind when thinking about this novel is wonderful. it follows tova, a woman who befriends an octopus called marcellus during an incredibly difficult period of her life. and the octopus helps her in more ways than one could imagine. the novel is so unique, i absolutely loved the story. it was super emotionally moving, because the story is well developed but so are the characters. it's amazing when an author is able to write an octopus into this convincing of a character. i literally liked the marcellus pov most of all. i also thought the writing was wonderful, so many beautiful sentences. i did hate cameron, though, not a fan.
