Flawed, brave, real girls fighting for survival on an island 40 miles offshore of Maine. The story focuses on a trio of best friends, Hettie, Byatt and Reese. When Byatt goes missing Hettie is determined to find her even if it means leaving the school grounds to brave the horrors that lie beyond it. When she does, what she learns is more terrifying, in some ways, than the Tox itself.
