The Goddess Inheritance by Aimée Carter

3.0

Spoilers if you have not read the first two books in the series!

The Goddess Inheritance didn't really have the compelling nature that the first book had for me. I feel like the first was definitely the best, and the series went down (not a whole lot, but a noticeable amount) from there.

Maybe it was the fact that the first book was mysterious, there were plot twists and mysteries that came out of no where. By Inheritance there were no mysteries that left me guessing. There were no mysteries at all.

Also, I felt like I had to have read all the extra mini-books that came in between to fully understand this one. I don't want that obligation, those books are supposed to be for die hard fans, are they not? At least they're supposed to be separate enough from the main series so as not to cause confusion.

I felt that Kate tried hard to be heroic, but she kind of petered out after the first couple attempts. She was just a bland protagonist and I thought it was ridiculous that Cronus would want her of all people (even though his reasons were explained.)

While I still enjoyed it enough to give it three stars, I felt like Inheritance could have been more than it was. The ending itself didn't even feel like an ending.
SpoilerSpinoff series starring Eric, anybody?
