The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

“It wasn’t just a quick drop, it was falling, over and over again, for your person. It was falling as they became new people, learning how to exist with every new breath. It was uncertain, and it was undeniably hard, and it wasn’t something you could plan for. Love was an invitation to the wild unknown. One step a time, together.”

This was a delightful and fun audiobook. I didn’t read the description, so I didn’t know this book was about a literal seven year slip in time, and I was so pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be totally different and more predictable (which I wasn’t mad at).
I love when a heterosexual romance novel still includes queer representation, and this story did it well. I loved the main character’s relationship with her two best friends, and I loved that there was a plot outside romance.
This was more lit fic than classic, dual POV, just romance, which I really enjoy.
This book was also written from the perspective of a woman who is grieving a loss, and the author did an incredible job at describing this.

The only thing I didn’t love was that I had obvious questions about time that the MC didn’t seem to have. If I was in this situation, I probably would have called my aunt on Ewan’s phone, or been worried about messing up time, or at least been a little curious about it. These little unaddressed things felt a little sloppy to me.
I was also very sad that the scene with her reconnecting with her aunt was just left out!? We got to see the hug, and then it just changed topics!

Overall, I liked this a lot and would definitely recommend.
