Frederik Backman writes about people and community so well! Despite being disappointed by A Man Called Ove, Beartown exceeded my expectations as the highest rated book on my tbr. It was beautiful.
This story asks and answers so many of humanities deepest questions within the constraints of a story about a hockey town and a scandal in the community. Although there are some distressing themes, each character was well-developed and substantial. Despite not being a sports fan or having any knowledge of hockey, Backman's voice placed my whole sense of self into the game - the story is punctuated with the sound of a hockey stick hitting a puck.
