It was good to hear this myth from the side of Ariadne rather than Theseus, and to see how her story continues after she arrives on Naxos. But this book just didn't have the impact I was expecting it to. Maybe that's because I read Natalie Haynes' work first and found it more moving and impactful. A lot of things I had expected Ariadne to react strongly to are simply glossed over.
Still, I wouldn't want to leave the impression that this isn't a good book. It is, but it passed by quietly instead of shaking me, as I wanted and expected it to.
