The Color Purple by Alice Walker

5.0

I can't even begin to describe how complete I felt when reading this book. It's a real heart-wrenching page turner that starts off with one of the most brutally heart-breaking scenes in humanity: 14 year old Celie succumbing to the unwanted advances of her predatory stepfather. THIS is a real story. One that causes to feel several bouts of emotion for the protagonist, make you scream at the "villain" then come to appreciate their maturation throughout the story, cry and sob and fuss and laugh with the supporting characters, who embody the bonds of love, friendship, brotherhood, and everything more. You haven't LIVED in my opinion, unless you've read this book. 5 stars.
