The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
5.0
I honestly loved this book, even though it's not the kind of book I normally read. Taking place in South Carolina in the 1960's, the book follows the story of a 14 year girl on a journey today discover her past and herself. The first chapter of the book was a little all over the place, skipping from the present to the past and back again but once the story got started to flowed smoothly. It was a well written roller coaster of emotions. The author did an amazing job making you really feel and understand the emotions of all the characters. The world that was created was filled with realistic characters that you really grew to love (or hate) with real locations and actual historical events woven into the plot making it come alive. I truly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it!
