This book was slooooowwww and maybe would have been better if I knew what it was adapting, but books should be able to stand on their own even if it's an adaptation. A hard read about cycles of abuse plagued by flat, unchanging characters and unnatural dialogue. At least the Gothic vibes helped a little.
