really unsure how to feel about this one because all the low reviews are right: the protagonist is a total ass, a major plotline is left completely unsolved, & I could've done without the undertones of mythological/supernatural occurrences as the protagonist's mental health deteriorates. BUT the high reviews are also true: the characters felt very real, the Katy Devlin case is a great mystery, and I was hooked from the start. I just couldn't do any less than 4 stars on this one just because the drama was that good. Definitely going to read the next one in the series.
