A Touch of Malice by Scarlett St. Clair
5.0
Right away from the beginning, I liked how the story essentially picks up after the events in “A Touch of Ruin”. Through the story, you saw Persephone was still dealing with the trauma of losing her best friend, and when she was kidnapped. I appreciated that Scarlett illustrated Persephone’s struggles, and didn’t push it away as if everything was fine. The storyline flowed from the previous book, and by including what Persephone was dealing with showed, she still had to come to terms with her trauma and grief.
The way Scarlett worded Persephone’s thoughts in terms of her struggles was beautifully written, and even other characters such as, Hermès and Hecate share great advice to Persephone in that it’s ok to still grieve, after all it is something that takes time.
This story was amazing to read, and I’m always excited to jump back into Hades & Persephone’s world. Hades and Persephone definitely had to overcome a lot in terms of Demeter being against their engagement, Zeus trying to maintain control over the Olympians, and the Triad trying to destroy the Gods. Scarlett did an amazing job of weaving the mythology of so many well know characters and adding layers upon layers to the story, which culminated into a fantastic storyline. This book didn’t disappoint in the amount of passion, humor, action, drama, and more.
Once again, the character development between Hades and Persephone continued to grow in this story, and it makes me happy to see the progress they’ve made, especially since “A Touch of Darkness”.
I can honestly keep gushing about how much I loved this book, and this series! Once again, totally recommend, especially if you’re a fan of Hades & Persephone, Greek mythology, romance, and an interesting storyline.
