Caught Up by Liz Tomforde
5.0
“Life is meant to be spent chasing happiness”
If I could write an entire review just using quotes, this would be the book to do it for.
Liz Thomforde writes such beautiful, layered and relatable characters and caught up did NOT disappoint.
Miller and Kai are two incredible people with deep rooted insecurities, just trying to chase their happiness.
Of course, they find happiness in each other & in Kai’s son, Max.
“I’ve noticed that about her, her need to be the best. Like she finds her worth in checkmarks and achievements.”
As a girl with extreme anxiety & silly lil self esteem difficulties, Miller’s character was so important to me.
I understood her need to validate her existence through checkmarks and achievements & I felt understood in turn.
To see her character grow throughout this novel made me feel hopeful for what’s to come in life, achievements aside.
Internal monologues were slightly repetitive at times and i definitely could have used more smut. However, these characters moreee than made up for it & this title more than earned my 5 star rating.
If you’re wondering if you should read this,
I’ll leave you with this beautiful quote
“You said it was my choice if I wanted to live up to expectations, and I do. But now, the only expectations I’m going to worry about are the ones I set for myself. And the only expectations I have for myself are to be happy and to chase the things I want.”
