Highland Warrior by Monica McCarty

4.0

Eugh !!!

I have given this book 4 stars...but ideally I would have rated it 3.5 stars.

Caitrina is the beloved daughter of the Chief of Lamont. Bitter enemies of the Campbells.
Jamie visits her family under the pretense of "wooing" the Chiefs daughter not realising how true that would end up being.
In reality he is there to find the MacGregors, who he has heard rumours about hiding out there.
Anyway after some kisses, some intimate touches and fights, words are exchanged and Jamie leavess angry.
In the meantime his horrible brother decides to wreak havok in Bute at the Lamonts and kills her entire family, nearly killing her but she managed to escape thanks to Jamie rescuing her.
Three months later...she is in hiding and he doesnt know where she is but he manages to track her down and after some more fighting, he offers to marry her and help her restore her home ... blah blah blah

To be honest, i would continue with this but Caitrina had to be one of the most annoying heroines of all times.

Jamie was even better than when he appeared in the MacLeod trilogy...he seemed more manly, more sure of himself and well just MORE in general.
My heart just melted on his scenes he was such a brilliant hero.

Caitrina...was full of biased attitute and was annoying, naive and needed a good kick up the arse if you ask me.

It seemed the Lamonts were peeved that the Campbells disowned their mother etc but I do wonder how that had anything to do with Jamie etc and they were showing the same attitude to them as what they showed to their mother...all was hypocritical to me.

There were lots of fights and each time Jamie was as honest as anything and she lied and hid things and was quite horrible to him at times with what she said. He never gave her any reason not to trust him and she was constantly throwing in his face how she didnt. Yet she supposedly loved him? The last fight had to be the worse thing...she isnt getting her own way so she seduces him, has sex with him...then assumes she is so good he is totally going to do what she wants now.

BUT.....Even though she was horrible, she did come through in the end, thank the lord!

Jamie saved the book for me. He was a brilliant character and I absolutely adored him the entire way through this. He didnt do anything to ruin himself in my eyes. I think he deserved a better heroine but Monica McCarty makes a very good story and as before as I was sucked in and had to keep reading.

I look forward to reading Elizabeth's story.
