I love Kai and River. Continuing this series only makes me love them more. I really enjoyed the focus on River taking initiative at work and starting up his project to help the non-human-passing aliens have happier lives on Earth. He is so confident and compassionate, and I absolutely love that Kai sees that and not only supports him, but makes sure to tell him how proud he is. The overarching plot of this series took a really intense turn during this book, but I was relieved that it never got too dark or heavy. It definitely got more serious towards the end, but the angst and danger level are manageable for me. I'm so looking forward to continuing to read this series!
