You'll Never Believe What Happened to Lacey: Crazy Stories about Racism by Amber Ruffin, Lacey Lamar

5.0

Wow. The amount of times I covered my mouth in "No they didn't!" was shocking. The book was funny, and it was honest. It made me think about things I've said or done that I shouldn't have. It also made me want to be a better ally and a better person in general. Hearing how many times these women stood up for themselves made me happy. I couldn't believe these women were fired for being Black and for standing up when someone said something racist AT WORK! Those are the times they REALLY should've had support, but they hardly ever had any support. It makes me want to be better at being supportive of everyone, especially Black women. I really enjoyed this book, and I feel like it taught me a lot. Comedy is such a great way of getting a point across, and these women did it perfectly!
