Nigerian pride as a super hero
Although I’m a bit bitter that I didn’t win this book in its giveaway, this was one of the most refreshing superhero mystery books I’ve read. And the hero in question is a Nigerian middle school boy? Even better.
Rarely do we get African superheroes written for us, but Okorafor writes the book and writes it well. I love the blend of Nigerian culture and the cultural symbolism of Nnamdi’s powers. And I also love the drive and complexity to the books character. There were plenty of fun moments in this book, and feel-good ones, and exciting ones.
Only thing was, as this is a semi mystery book, the ending kind of felt rushed / forced for reasons I will probably see come up in the book’s future sequel. But I recommend for any and all ages
