A Fever in the Heartland: The Ku Klux Klan's Plot to Take Over America, and the Woman Who Stopped Them by Timothy Egan
informative
fast-paced
5.0
A compelling read. Recommend for people who enjoy:
- American history
- Prohibition
- Politics (interesting parallels between 1920s America and 2020s)
- Right vs wrong
Evan’s writing style is conversational and easy to read. The book is thought provoking, but not uplifting: The Klan still exists, and literal neo-Nazis marched in Nashville 4 days after I finished reading this book. (Feb 2024)
Graphic: Racism, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, and Xenophobia
Moderate: Alcoholism
